Command Center widget question

I know this isn't exactly a critical issue, but I'm curious about what the colored bar is at the top of the circle in the Command Center widget. I know the bottom is battery, and I assume the top bar is related to weather, but what does it mean? The one with green on the left and yellow on the right.

I believe its how accurate your GPS location is, but that's just my guess.

If you imagine the rainbow, colors closer to violet represent cold temps, and colors closer to red represent hot temps. I believe the left end represents the low temp for the day, and the right represents the high.

It must be temperature, in the winter here it was always to the far left, spring to the right.
