compass mode in maps not working???

The compass mode in my maps or latitude does not work. I went to help and it just says that I should be able to touch the GPS icon at the top right and it should switch to compass mode so when u rotate the map rotates with it. I looked at my friends and it works correctly and I made sure My GPS is and and the use wireless networks option is checked. So obviously I'm still missing something or have something turned off.....any ideas??

Have you tried updating Maps in the market? Also, does you phone's autorotate work properly in other apps? You could try resetting your g-sensor calibration under Menu>Settings>Display>G sensor calibration. I am not sure if the maps compass uses that or not but calibrating the phone is super easy so you never know. Last but not least try rebooting your phone. I would do a factory reset as a last resort before taking it into Sprint.

Depending on the GPS lock you have to move like 60 meters before the GPS can determine what direction you are facing. On my Shift I have noticed that the GPS is not as good as the GPS on the OG EVO don't get me wrong it works fine it just takes longer to get the lock so when you are in maps make sure the blue circle is gone before testing features
