I got the S3 now but am a bit bored ( I get bored every 12 months) Before i pull the trigger on getting the Maxx can anyone tell me what I can expect to enjoy more about the Maxx than my S3? - Battery obviously, Things not as good? Camera Obviously.

Thanks for helping a guy out.

You will enjoy pretty much everything more. Camera should be as good or close anyway. Active notifications are great, touchless controls, running a near stock android experience and like you said battery life. Its an upgrade all the way around. I would definitely pull the trigger if I were you.

I've not owned an S3, but I'll tell you what the Droids do that the others don't. You'll love the active listening/breathing thing...it's always on and alert! You touch it and the time pops up. You open it, and for me, the three things I want to know most are on Moto's built-in widget: time, temp, battery. And each of those can be touched/flipped to get you more immediately. Way cool.

The other huge one is being able to talk to it, all the time! It's lost, or laying on the counter, or you're driving, OK, Google...and it pops up with, What? What you want? lol. You can launch apps, call, text, and never touch the phone. You can check the weather in Napa. You can get scores. And never touch it.

Oh, one more! You see something, want to grab a pic? Well, what a pain, right? How about twist your wrist a couple times, aim, and touch the screen? Yep, that fast. Faster than you can open your phone and find the camera button. In all fairness, the first Droid had a button that could be programmed to be the cam. Why that left town we don't know. But speed is back.

Thank all for the mental reassurance. Going to big red today.

mods, you can close this if you want. I picked up today so I guess I'll find out for myself

Think you could post your experiences comparing the two after you have it for a few days? I'd be curious to hear how the camera works out for you.

I went from the Droid Bionic to an S3, then to an S4,and now the Maxx. The thing I like most about switching from the S3 *and* the S4? I get reception! I really liked a lot of the Touchwiz UX, but man, I couldn't even make it through an 8 hour work day with my battery. Both Samsung phones spent most of the time with no service. Always, over 50% of the battery use was cell standby. I know that's not the case for all Samsung users, or even Samsung phones (my husband has a Note 2 and loves it. It would sit right next to mine with 4 bars while my s3/s4 had 0), but as far as I'm concerned, Motorola has far better radios.

I've had the Maxx for about a week now and I'm totally in love with it. I thought I would miss the removable battery, but so far, no! Same goes with removable storage. The camera doesn't have as many options as the Samsungs, but imo the picture quality is just as good.

I really think you'll enjoy the near stock experience, and as always, the best part about Android is if you really miss something from the Samsung UX, you can probably find an app/widget to replicate it!
