Compile error, help. Anyone?

Are you sure? You need a pretty grand computer to compile a full rom from source. Compiling a recovery from source and a full rom are two totally different animals. Here is my setup.

Dual Boot Windows 7 w/ Ubuntu 11.10
Ubuntu Development Tool Kit
Java SDK
Java 6
Rom kitchen
Winzip
Linux Virtual Machine

Computer Set up
Gateway Laptop
24GigaBytes RAM ?--- Helps alot
1.5 Trillabytes of Hard drive ?--- Helps Alot
Voodoo Video Chip < came with the laptop
Massive Intel Processor [6 + 1 Cores]

I'm sorry...but what the hell is a "trillabyte"? O.o And 24 GB RAM on a laptop? Can I ask what one you got because that's a beast. I've built CM7 from source on my Macbook Pro with 4GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive, 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo.

My spelling sucks.....let me lay down what it is.....1024mb=1gb.....1024gb=1tb......I have 1.5tb of hardware space. The laptop had 12gb by default of RAM I added 12gb more of RAM at time of purchase so that is 24gb total RAM. The computer was purchased at laptop exchange.

Okay, is it just me, or is sbrissen's kernel source throwing straight errors? First I had to manually locate missing files, and place them in the appropriate folder, and still no go. I gave up on the ROM, but no go on kernel?

[removed compile output]

sbrissen's kernel can only be built with CM's inline kernel build system right now.

he would have to make edits to the source to make it buildable standalone.

if you want to build just the kernel

just do this in your top level working directory for android.
assuming you have the kernel source in the right place.

Code:
. build/envsetup.sh && lunch full_d710-userdebug && make bootimage;

also assuming you're using his device tree.

Gave up , his tree did absolutely nothing for me. I'm starting from the drawing board.

You make it sound like you need a $2.500+ dollar computer just to build from source...

I've built CM9 from chris41g's source tree on my Dell Optiplex 760 with only a 3.16Ghz dual core and 8GB of RAM Windows 7 Ultimate running a virtual machine that was only utilizing 4GB of that RAM.

no you don't. I build just fine on a Core2Quad OC'd to 3GHz and 4GB ram.

Seriously?
You need the kernel source to be in kernel/samsung/smdk4210

You need to be using CM's build system, android_build

You need to either be using PhatomPhreak's or sbrissen's jellybean device trees.

and I gave you the exact command earlier to get just the kernel to build.

I got it working with you're instructions , but not on my computer. I don't know why , but my computer doesn't build. I'm using a VM in Windows Azure , 8 Core , 14GB RAM. :) It's pretty smooth to be a Linux VM running inside a Windows Server VM.

Nice!

Yeah. It's pretty easy once everything is setup properly.
