Confessions from a Note 10 Plus Disser

It's gonna be at least 2 years before 5G is widespread enough to be worthwhile. As @SpookDroid said, coverage is still really spotty. Rollout is gonna go pretty slow because of how 5G actually works. The towers have to be much closer, and even then trees can cause interference at the moment.

Good post, rushmore. I was/am in the same boat. The N10+ is really not that exciting to me when talking about full price. But when you can basically get $800 on the N9 trade in for a Verizon N10+ 5G, it makes me look at it in a different light. But there are still a couple of things holding me back, like waiting for the 2nd gen Qualcomm 5G modem, the X55 and it's associated antenna tuning package. Sounds like it will be a big step forward in the 5G world.
Need better more efficient 5G antennas and radios for sure. 5G can be a battery drainer. Wondering how much efficiency can be gained though.

You folks are right, still a lot of questions around the 5G stuff. My thinking is that the current X50 5G modems will be way behind by the time 5G gets to my area, so waiting for the X55 probably makes a lot of sense. But if it's years off, maybe the best plan is just to forego the 5G option altogether and upgrade later. I'm perfectly happy with 4G speeds, when I can get that coverage. So I don't need 5G. But I thought I'd read that it would reach into poor coverage areas better, and that's a big plus for me as I'm often in areas with very faint signals. But what msm0511 said a couple of posts disagrees with that. I'll have to do more research on that one.

mmWave is where the super fast speeds come from. mmWave is extremely finicky though. Low-band and mid-band will provide better coverage, but the speed boosts aren't as great. Even heavy rains can cause disturbances in mmWave. Of course this is an extreme oversimplification.

No prob - I also dissed it, but that was before I knew that the Note 10+ 5G is dual-sim here

Speed doesn't worry me on the low and mid bands. Most of the time when I'm out in boonies around here, I'm thankful for any signal. So if those bands give me any kind of coverage superior to 4G, I'll be happy with it.

While I like the buds (because they were free), just bear in mind that they have terrible connectivity with non-Samsung devices (and even with Samsung ones they still glitch out every now and then). If you use them on a Windows PC you can expect some audio lag (same PC with non-Aptx-capable Jabra headphones, no lag...for comparison). They do feel super light and barely-there in your ear, so that's why I keep using mine, but if I had to pay for these, I'd definitely have to return or wouldn't be able to justify the current price tag.

So if the credit doesn't expire soon (someone told me that the Samsung.com pre-orders had to use the credit right then and there, no extension) and you already own headphones you like, I'd probably wait for the Galaxy Active 2 Watch instead of the earbuds. And get those with the next Galaxy if they fix their issues with the second iteration :P
You only have to use the credit right away if you use it partially. If you say no with nothing in your basket they will send you a code for use later on.... Probably after the return period has expired.
