configure my sd card as internal storage

I have the samsung galaxy s5 running marshmallow 6. What is preventing me from configuring my sd card as internal storage?
It only configures as portable storage.
It is on the sprint network.

To the best of my knowledge Samsung's implementation of Marshmallow doesn't allow Adoptable Storage, so you can't format your SD Card for that purpose.

You could root your device and apply the necessary hacks to 'trick' the phone into thinking the SD Card is part of the internal storage. It wouldn't need to be reformatted but it comes at the risk of rooting and errors if card fails or is removed.

I have another problem, though! I formatted it as internal, and now don't know how to get it back to external again! :/ Halp?
