Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Sweet! Depending on the rumor situation on whether it'll be subsidized or not, I'll have to decide what to do with my 6 day old Droid... If the N1 will be subsidized anyway, it makes more sense for me just to return my Droid and get the N1. If not, sell the Droid and buy the N1 outright. Either way, can't wait to get my hands on the N1!

Check through the thread is shows how T-Mobile did their subsidiaries...I would guess it would be something similar to them. I plan on buying the unlocked version because of the fact it will be cheaper in the long run. Again there is threads out there comparing the costs. $49 Nexus One...uhm yes please!

how do you figure this will be unlocked? it will only work on verizons cdma network. why would i want an unlocked phone that can only work on one network? its kind of like the unlocked version for tmobile, it only really works with tmobile.

March 23rd is the rumor date now for the Verizon release...

Story will appear on the AC front page soon...

awesome, hope is right around the corner. Jeremy, would you get the nexus over the Incredible?

I have a Nexus now on AT&T and I really don't know much about the Incredible. I will pick up a Desire when that hits AT&T though for sure.

Jeremy, would it be difficult for me to put the desire rom on a nexus, or should I just get the incredible. I really like sense, but like the specs of the nexus.
Thanks in advance

Actually there are quite a few people running the current unlocked N1 on AT&T...they just don't get 3G...so I don't expect the CDMA version to be much different. You can purchase an unlocked version at Google currently. If you read the comparison article of subsidized and unlocked phones...there is no contract and it allows you to get cheaper carrier service through the carrier that they would not offer on a subsidized phone. Read the article...rather interesting.

that is not truly unlocked. it does not function as designed on ATT network. a truly unlocked phone would have had the 850mhz radio. a truly, truly unlocked phone would have also had cdma radio as well. like a storm and the old BB8830 world phone. you purchase the phone and go to any carrier you want. also can you post link to article you speak of. it seams odd that you would get discounted plan rates for unlocked phone.

You are correct this is not a truely unlocked phone...but saving $480 a year and getting an N1 for roughly $49 seems worth it...here's the link
Google/HTC’s Nexus One is only $49 (in a manner of speaking) - Gadget News, Analyzed - Gadgetopolis

Man I can't wait to get this beast home I can convince my wife shoot I don't care if she uses it as long as I have one to play with

thats a little far fetched. also it is $240 a year, $480 at the end of what would have been your two year contract. but that being said it does get you the phone for $49 at the end of two years. if verizon will discount monthly rates for unsubsidized, i would definitely do it without question. iwould do anything to reduce my monthly expenditures with the big red beast.

also thanks for posting link

Yeah sorry I meant two years...yes let's hope Verizon will give discounted pricing for unsubsidized phones...at least they can't tell you what plan you have to be on and could even do a family plan straight away. We'll see.
