Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

I am a current Storm owner, and I am looking forward to and hoping they sell this phone in Verizon stores. I would like to actually try the phone in store before I purchase it. If they do not sell this phone in stores, it is not a deal breaker for me, but would be more of a roadblock. I have been with Verizon for years and never had an issue buying or getting service in store. I do have to say one advantage is hopefully not having to wait for Verizon's technical acceptance to "approve" an operating system. I am hoping Android is the way to go, I am getting annoyed by my Storm, and it is about time to get rid of it.

I am confused. If you buy the Nexus One and do not like it, can't you return it. Why do you need to buy it in the store. Also I read online that they are training Verizon employees on the Nexus One for in store support issues.

I apologize, I meant that it would be nice to actually hold it and use it in the store before purchase. Also if Verizon has it in stores then the New Every Two discount would also be applied for sure, if it is only sold on the Google website then that is up in the air. But I guess we will have to wait for more information to be released, I hope it is soon. If they do not sell it in stores, it is not a deal breaker, I just meant it would be nice.

I have a $50 NE2 credit that I hopefully can use. Fingers are crossed.

I have been reading Android Central Forums for a few months now but this is my first post. I thought I would just jump in on this conversation since this tread is checked by me several times a day in hopes of finding out something on the release of the N1 on Verizon.

My NE2 is not up until November. We have 4 phones on our Family Plan with Verizon, 3 of which are Moto Droids. The other is mine and it is a Storm. I have had the Storm only a year but it seems a lifetime. The phone finally works the way it should have when it came out but even at that it is far behind what is available today. I am not really complaining about the Storm as it was my first smartphone and with it I learned a lot. I spent a good amount of time on CrackBerry trying to get tips, leaks, and any info I could to make the thing run better, stronger , faster, and that is what I expect I will be doing here as well. I have been delaying upgrading in hopes of getting my chance at the N1. I am tired of checking for news every few hours on the release and just wish it would get here already so the fun can begin! I am still hoping the March 23 rumor date sticks but it would be nice to get some sort of 'official' announcement. I don't care what the thing cost, I just want it, now.

This explains me almost to a T. I also have the storm and gave up reading crackberry website since there is nothing you can do that will make the ****ty storm a good phone. I will order the N1 the day it comes out. Just hope its soon

Similar situation...I just upgraded to the Eris yesterday from the Storm; taking a chance that the N1 or Incredible will drop before April 10th...I'm enjoying the Eris, but it could be a tad quicker with just a bit larger screen. Fingers crossed...

I'm another Verizon Storm customer that gave up on the phone a long time ago, just waiting for the N1 or Incredible. Glad I didn't hop on the Droid at this point. Just trying to not destroy my Storm before I get a new superior Android device!

I'm guessing the Sense UI comment is a typo - and that they are getting the N1 mixed up with the Incredible which is rumored to be dropping soon as well

This is great news to me!! I did not want it sold in stores! I know it will disappoint many of you, but I believe Google is doing something special and I want to apart of it! What about the Sense UI...I don't know if I want this.

I tend to agree with you on this. It really didn't matter if they were going to sell it in stores but not doing so kind of makes it unique. As for the Incredible, I think it will be a great phone with the Sense UI but stock Android is what I am really looking for. Sense is great to look at but I think I would become bored with it after a while. Being able to mod the stock is going to be so much fun and will keep me interested much longer and being apart of what Google is trying to do may pay dividends down the road. I don't know how yet, besides maybe getting updates first, but to me it is worth the chance.

Looks like I'll be passing on the N1 since there will be no SENSE UI included.

Really don't feel like having to root to get it.

Wow are you serious you would give up on the N1 because it does not have sense ui......

I did the same. Lovin it so far... just need to see the N1 come out soon.

How is the Sense UI different than stock Android? I just picked up the Eris and I have no way to tell what's Sense and what's Android.

I see some of the rumored Incredible specs looking good too. I am now getting more and more undecided between the N1 and the Incredible. I was reading on another forum that you can turn Sense UI on and off, so you can essentially have stock Android or Sense if you want. Can anyone here confirm this? Thanks.

I don't have one to try it for myself but supposedly you can go to > settings > Applications > manage applications > (It will take a while) scroll down to HTC sense > and press clear defaults.

I remembered reading that somewhere myself so I went and found it again.
