I bought my Note 10+ in January through Amazon Canada. It was described as an "international model," and the network frequencies listed seemed to cover what I need. It's running just fine on Koodo Mobile (sub-brand of Telus here in Canada).
The model number is SM-N9750, which seems to be a model specific to Taiwan and Hong Kong. Under Software information in Settings, I see Baseband version N9750ZSU2CTD1, which also is a Taiwan/Hong Kong version, according to sammobile. Under Service provider SW ver I have BRI/BRI,BRI/BRI, again referring to Taiwan.
So here I have this Taiwan/HK phone that somehow gets software updates -- through Koodo, through some other mechanism? I've received the Android 10 and the One UI 2.1 updates, everything's working fine, but I'm confused as to how.
Would it be possible to swap the firmware for the Koodo-specific version? I presume not, because the Koodo-specific phones are model SM-N975F. Is there any point in even thinking about this any more? Appreciate any insight!
Thanks -- Pauline
