Confused about ram usage...

Just switched from the s8 to the note 8, and I'm very confused about why it is using so much ram. I have all the same apps installed on it, and configured the same way, and this left me with around 1gig of memory available on my s8. On my note this configuration leaves me 1.5 gigs. I realize the spen must take up some resources, but I figured 2 extra gigs would leave more than an additional 500 megs available, and make it even snappier than the s8 was. I'm not saying it isn't snappy and running really well, I just figured they're very similar phones, running nominally the same stuff, so shouldn't the 6 gigs of ram translate over closer to 3 gigs available rather than so close to the 1 I had left over when I only had 4 gigs?

I usually have about 2 - 2.2Gb available at any given time. But I don't run as many applications as the average person. Maybe try running device maintenance to see if it frees up some memory?

Unused ram is not effective. It caches commonly used files and apps for faster access.

The more RAM available, the more of it that will be used.

Empty ram is wasted ram. As the previous poster said, if there's ram available, the OS is going to try and fill it.
