Hi!

I'm going to install Cyanogenmod 10 on my Xoom (GSM, MZ605) and I got confused... I know it sounds a little stupid but, do I need root to install ClockWorkMod and custom ROMs? I looked everywhere and I couldn't find anything! Also, is Cyanogenmod already rooted?

Sorry, I'm a newbie... :-\

The Xoom shipps with an unlockable boot loader. Its a destructive process to unlock the boot loader, and will erase all data/apps from your phone, putting you back to "out of the box" settings. (Moto used to have the commands listed on their web page, but after redoing their site I'm not sure where they moved it to, so see this post -> [http://forums.androidcentral.com/xo...cking-rooting-returning-stock.html#post716844 the prior posts in that thread talk about setting up the drivers, adb, etc. )

Once your boot loader is unlocked, you can pretty much flash anything you want. Example.. you can unlock the bootloader, flash clockworkmod (to flash CWM see -> [Recovery] ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 (R4c) Modded for Internal media [UPDATED 10/6] - xda-developers ), then boot into CWM and flash a ROM of your liking.

And yes, I believe Cyanogenmod is already rooted.
