Confused about the SD card

I don't think so. But there are some apps that enables you to use SD card for a secondary RAM when the real RAM is full.

Thanks Tech-Newb, yes, I check storage and the ram is going down each time I add a app but the 32gb SD card capacity stays the same. Soon a few more apps and I'll be out of room.

Umm.. are you trying to say ROM or the internal storage of your phone instead of RAM? RAM is some sort of storage needed to RUN apps. While ROM is needed to STORE/SAVE app data.

Sd card cant be used to store apps. But some very large games can store the data/resources on the sd card. Most apps can only be stored on your internal storage and cant be 100% moved to the sd card.

Sd card is mostly used to store multimedia files like photos, videos, etc.

Which is a TREMENDOUSLY bad idea. The I/O speeds of even the fastest SD cards are much slower than the RAM speeds... it's the same for desktop PCs, where if you are running on virtual memory (same concept), the thing's performance goes into the toilet.

The SD card is for pics, videos, random data files that apps might need, etc.

Thank you, discussions like this helps me getting it straight.
So another question, can the internal, built-in storage be increased?
I have a ZTE N817.
Thanks!

Do you mean upgraded? No... as far as I am aware, there has really never been a smartphone released that also included the ability to upgrade the built-in storage... the storage chips used are tightly integrated into the main board and there's really no way to swap out or add on. In Android 6.0, Google added 'adoptive storage', which allows for phones that support it to mount an SD card to be used the same as internal storage. That's about as close as you'll find.

Thanks LeoRex, that settles that. However, it is a good thing, it's a excuse to upgrade (buy) a new whole phone. :D
