Hey all, is it possible to connect a home Wi-Fi router to a mobile hotspot? I'm trying to determine if I can get rid of my lSP internet service by connecting my home router to my phone's mobile hotspot, thereby connecting devices on my home network to the Internet through my phone's mobile hotspot.

I currently have an ea6900 and Samsung s6 edge, looking at the samsung s21 ultra for my next Phone. I've got no issue upgrading my router if required to make this happen.

Thanks!

I'm not sure about your main question, but keep in mind that many (if not most) mobile providers will either limit your monthly hotspot usage or throttle it after a certain data cap has been reached. They typically need to do this to prevent bandwidth from going into the toilet if everyone started using their mobile networks as their main home internet. Which carrier are you on?

No, a typical consumer router, like your Linksys EA6900 will only be able to have its incoming signal through an Ethernet cable (usually connected to a conventional modem provided by an ISP using some kind of broadband connectivity). Your router cannot be used to pick up a wireless signal, it has to be via a cable.
If you want to drop your ISP's online service, it sounds like you need to buy a new cellular modem (often referred to as 'mobile hotspot') instead. Those devices that are tied to a wireless, cellular service. Shop around carefully, each model is made to work better with some carriers over other carriers.

before doing anything, check your data usage with your home isp and add the mobile data usage to find total usage. Then check and see if you get enough hotspot data to cover the total usage.
