Hi,
I am trying to connect my Note 3 using a Micro USB MHL Adapter to RCA wire to my factory installed Rear Entertainment System in my Honda Oddessy car, and I can't seem to figure out what I Am doing wrong...I was wondering if I need to use a special App to have the out put from the phone directed via the wire because the video is playing on the phone. My van does not have an HDMI port, but has RCA only, so I am trying to figure out how to stream things to the RES. Please let me know if anyone else has been able to connect the Note 3 via RCA cable to anything and play video's. Thanks in advance.

Do you have power connected to the phone? In some cases, the MHL Adapter setup requires a powersource connection as well.

yup the usb is connected to power, but I don't think it is getting enough juice, even with OEM Charger, since I get a message about faster charging....but there is not much I can do, as the Micro USB on the adapter is taking up the port on the phone.

When you say "...the usb is connected to power..." I'm not sure exactly what is connected to what. Are you talking about the full-size USB port on the S3? If so, I don't think power can be transmitted to the S3 from that port.

With a previous phone I had, I used an MHL Adapter. It plugged into the MicroUSB port on the phone, and the adapter itself had another MicroUSB adapter, to which I would plug in the phone's normal power adapter. It worked that way.

If you're saying your MHL Adapter has that accessory MicroUSB port, and that the S3's OEM Charger/Cable is plugged into that MicroUSB port, and it's still not working, then the problem may arise elsewhere. Or it's possible that the S3 simply doesn't support that type of connection.

ETA: the output from the MicroUSB port is going to be digital, AFAIK. So am MHL/HDMI Adapter would work fine. But if it's taking that digital signal, and connecting it to the analog-based RCA cable, I don't see how that would work. Somewhere there would need to be a digital to analog conversion, which your Adapter likely doesn't have.

Samsung has a few different MHL setups, so you have to get an adapter made for the Note 3. A generic MHL adapter probably won't work. (A few are "generic to the Note 3 pinout", but most aren't.)
