Sometimes Android File Transfer on a Mac would not work even when Samsung phones are connected through Usb cable. Heres a solution that works for me:
1. Download and Install Samsung Smart Switch on your Mac AND on your phone
2. Open the both apps and Connect your phone.
3. Once your phone is found/connected, click the pull down button beside the name of your device.
4. Beside Internal Memory, there is a folder icon beside your internal storage info. Click that
5. The will open the folders you have on your phone. You can start dragging files in and out.
Delete/Uninstall Android File Transfer as it is useless for Samsung phones. Have a great day
