Connected to phone via Wireless Tether but no data transfer

I just rooted my EVO 4g using z4root 1.3.0 (temp root) and I'm using Wireless Tether 2_0_6. I'm running stock ROM and software 3.70.651.1 My laptop connects to my phone via wireless tether. In the notification bar a red shield with a white 'x' inside pops up and says Wireless Tether - Authorized. It doesn't seem like there is any data transfer as I cannot open any web pages. In settings I am using Channel 01 (2412MHz) and LAN-Network 192.168.1.0/24. Enable access control is also checked. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Uncheck the Access Control - That locks connections by MAC address. Just use WPA encryption if you're worried about others hopping on your network.

Also make sure you have the most updated version.

I will uncheck Access Control. I think I have the most updated version using 2_0_6. I will try again tomorrow and share my results.

Theres discussion in other threads on this very topic, but apparently z4root no longer works for temp root.
