I am trying to connect a 1 TB external HD (Seagate Backup Plus) to my Galaxy 5 phone. HD is exfat formatted. When I connect the HD to my phone, it recognizes that a new USB drive is connected. Unfortunately, it only sees 196 MB. I loaded the HD with my iTunes music files, and hoped I could access them using my phone, as I have more files than will fit on my iPod. Unfortunately, I can't see any of the files, and my file manager says there are only 196 MB in the drive. Perhaps someone has walked down this path before and can help me out.

I've only been able to connect to such a large drive by using a mobile stream box through wifi. The format should be FAT32 to be recognized through a direct connection, but if you have a PC with Linux installed, it may work using Ext3 or Ext4 formatting.

Thanks for the reply. I had tried to research this online, and several sites indicated that Exfat formatted drives were readable by Samsung devices, but not NTSF. Some indicated that they had no difficulty once they connected the device the the HD using an OTG cable. It hasn't worked for me. I'll try your solution.
