I'd like to play videos stored on my S7 on my HiSense H8 4k TV but when I connect the phone to it via USB cable, the phone does not show up in TV's the media app. Anyone know how to make the S7 show up on the TV? The phone's USB connection setting is set to MTP (aka Transfer Files). It works fine when I plug it into a windows PC. It shows up as a removable drive like it should.

Other options to share media like Miracast/SmartView dont work well for HD videos. They stutter too much.

If I copy videos off the phone onto a USB drive, it shows up on the TV and videos play very smoothly. I just don't want to have to go through the extra steps to do that.

Since the S7 doesn't do MHL or DLNA, you'll have to use a dongle, like Chromecast and do it wirelessly. (I cast with Chromecast all the time, and never have a problem. Just use Google Home.)

Your TV might not support MTP and might need a 'legacy' USB File mode (which is a bit different than MTP). I think you can set the phone to that mode, but I'm not too sure. Also make sure that the videos you want to play are on a folder that's not inside a system or app folder and is available in the main tree when connecting it to a computer.
