Okay, so sprint does not offer 4g yet in my area but verizon does, if i root, will i be able to connect to a verizon tower and use 4g? Kindof like unlocking an iphone? If so, how? And is is dangerous?

Thank you,
Michael.

I may be wrong and I've never looked into it but I don't think you can roam on lte, only 3g. Again, I'm not sure...

Sprint's and Verizon's LTE are on 2 different frequency bands also. VZW being on 700 MHz and Sprint being on the PCS band at 1900 MHz' you would physically have to add the radio and antennas into the phone for that to happen.

Are we sure that the CDMA S3s don't have both radios? It would make more sense for Samsung to only have to build one CDMA phone instead of having variants built for specific carriers.

I am positive they don't have the same radios for the fact that Verizon has a Sim for there LTE and Sprint's is embedded into the phone.

From experience only. Running network monitor to see the tower in use. If I am in an area of very poor sprint coverage, then I will see Cricket and Verizon LTE tower associations. I get mediocre connect speeds, meaning I am not sure if it is decent 3g or slow 4g. Root not required.

Threads elsewhere describe the hows of root level privileges.

Not a removable one that could be swapped for a Verizon one.

Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S3. Please forgive any typos or auto-correct errors.
