Android Central Question

So, recently my phone (Samsung Galaxy s8) will not connect to any new games or apps that I download and it loads at a snails pace for anything that requires internet connection. It will download files for a new game and it will download apps/games just fine, web browsers like chrome work fine as well. I have tried multiple wifi connections as well as mobile data but it doesnt fix. This is also multiple games that I've tried recently so I know the games ive tried aren't the problem. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean by connecting to games or apps? Are you talking about the game loading into RAM, the speed with which it accesses the web, or just overall performance? Where are you installing the games from -- the Play Store, or some other source?

Everything is from the play store that I've tried. So what it does for most games and I'm noticing it now on some older apps, I can open game then when it goes to load it just sits there like I have no internet connection. It recently started doing this on my gmail app now too, the loading circle just goes infinitely. I can pull up some older games just fine that run off internet, web browsers load just fine as well and offline new games I install will start and run. I did speed tests as well and everything is good there. Hopefully that helps, I'm thinking I might have to end up factory resetting because I've tried just about everything I can think of.

Odd online connectivity issues samsung s8

Okay so I apologize I asked this question before and tried some recommended routes but i factory reset phone and lost my last question.

So I have very odd connectivity issues with my phone. It started happening a couple months ago and I've tried just about everything to fix. When I use web browsers and some apps like YouTube, my phone connects and loads just fine.

I have some games though and some apps that load very slowly or not at all now, some of the games and apps are old and some are new. Usually when I try on a game, some of which I had on my phone working just fine before but don't work now. Most games won't even load to the point of downloading additional files and some go extremely slow then eventually load.

The weird part is that I emptied cached, wiped data from some games, re installed, and finally decided to factory reset but the problem is still there. While asking this question I was thinking that the only thing left I could think is maybe a possible Google play account issue. One reason I just thought that is because one game I downloaded that had issues actually decided to work once I linked it to Facebook instead of google play. If anyone has any ideas of additional methods I could try, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I apologize for my rambling

I located your previous thread and merged them. You can see my previous suggestions as well -- see if they help at all, if you haven't already tried them.

Thanks for merging. I did safe mode and cleared cache partition with neither making any changes, after that is when I tried factory reset (I didn't use any backup so no apps or anything came over). The problem still was there after installing and trying to use apps/games again

I think I have figured out what exactly is being blocked. It is whenever an app or game tries to download additional data. So new install games that need to download additional files before opening, apps like espn and gmail trying to update my feed/email. Is it possible I have some setting on to prevent that? Web browsers, YouTube and games that don't download additional files but use internet work just fine.

Yes, both wifi and mobile data. I've even tried connecting on someone else's wifi as well

Go to Settings>Data and make sure you don't have any Restrict Background Data options turned on. Also, do you have any 3rd party data-saver apps installed?

Some of my apps were set to restrict background data while roaming but no change when I selected to never restrict. I don't have any data save apps either. Sorry to be such a hassle, this is a weird one.

What about 3rd party battery-saver, "phone cleaner," or security apps?

No battery saver or phone cleaner but I believe lookout runs in the background even though I havent signed up for it
