I updated my phone last night (Samsung A52) and for some reason now my earbuds connect fine, but I can only hear calls and not my music or YouTube. I tested everything and it does the same for Bluetooth speakers as well and my earbuds work fine on my other devices. Tried resetting the network connections, unpairing and pairing again and checked all the possible settings to no avail. Nothing online seems to show a fix for my issue either. Please help, Samsung Service Centers are hopeless as well, no one seems to have a clue what's going on. Would greatly appreciate any help I could find. Bluetooth shows it is connected to the earbuds in settings.

Posting again once signed in so I could reply to answers. Pls help!

Thank you so much.

I've attached a screenshot of the connected earbuds, advanced bluetooth settings and connected earbuds permissions. Everything seems to be in order but it isn't working. :/ WhatsApp Image 2022-02-15 at 1.55.01 PM.jpg WhatsApp Image 2022-02-15 at 1.54.51 PM.jpg

Isn't it a tad weird that it only started bugging out after I updated my phone to Android 12 - One UI 4? What do you think could have happened? :/

Since it also happens in Safe Mode, that eliminates the possibility that some app you installed is interfering -- I was wondering if something about the system update caused a problem with an app you installed, which in turn was causing problems with the earbud connection.

It certainly could be something in the update that is causing the glitch. Try changing the Bluetooth codec in the Developer Options. (To activate Developer Options, go to Settings>About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times.)

OH MY GOD YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND, YOU FIXED IT!!!!

The default Bluetooth Codec was set to SBC, but for some reason after the software update, when a Bluetooth device is connected, it automatically sets itself to aptX, which isn't supported by my phone model (A52). So I had to connect a Bluetooth device and manually change it from aptX to SBC and now it's working perfectly!

I cannot thank you enough. The Samsung Service Center in my region is absolutely useless. They told me I had probably installed a virus on the phone and I need to factory reset the entire thing. I knew they were wrong. Thank you again! You have no idea how grateful I am.

Great! Glad that worked.:)

And good grief, the Samsung support people thought it was a "virus"?!?

Make sure to send feedback to Samsung about this glitch (either through the system settings menu or through the Samsung Members app).

Yeah, they were literally about to factory reset the whole phone through the recovery menu until I saw and told them not to. lol It's a rolling joke over here; their go-to diagnosis is "virus, virus. Reset!" for literally everything software related.

Yes, for sure. I'll def do that.

There was a good chance a factory reset would of fixed it and put everything back to default settings but at least know where to look in future.

Yep I've heard of updates affecting the Bluetooth codecs before, and folks having to go in and change them. But B. Diddy is on the money lately!! Good work B :D
