Considering buying a G2X

Right now I have a normal messaging phone through AT&T w/ unlimited messaging but no data. I'm looking to buy a used Android phone (or flash to Android) and I ran across the G2X. Looked great until I read about the complaints many people have. The problem is I don't want to spend $350+ on a phone; the G2X was very reasonably priced on Ebay and has a front-facing camera, which I really want on my phone. I would get the Sensation but it's way too much for now. So my main question is- does the GB update for the G2X fix enough of the problems with this phone so I can comfortably buy it? I can't afford a Sensation right now, so don't suggest it please :)

I would assume that the GB update fixes many of the issues, but it's honestly too soon to hear any meaningful feedback.

The newest leak has been out for about 24 hours now. In the next few days we will have an idea as to whether the software issues have been addressed. If they have then its a safe bet that everything will be fine when the official OTA update is released.

I personally have found the update cleared my only two problems I had with the phone one being the email signature the other battery life. I first thought it was worse with GB but actually improved a bit. Don't get me wrong....it will not last like your current phone, but I can now easily get through a full day and have juice left till I get to bed and charge it for the night. Unfortunately I lucked out and got a unit that did not have the common issues others have been complaining about so I don't know if it fixed those issue (such as the random reboots).

I haven't had a single reboot since the update, and now that the LG camera has been ported over to GB it's been night and day from the original stock phone. Battery life is good, depending on what I'm doing of course. Gaming and the like suck the battery down pretty quickly, normal use can go all day.

I too have not heard my 6 friends who have one complain about any reboots after the GB update. They are now really happy with their device. It is sad LG and TMO took over 3 months to put this update out. It could have been such a big hit for both of them if the issues were resolved quickly after launch.

I bought the device after the update went out so my phone was shipped to me with the Gingerbread update pre-installed and I haven't had a single problem with it. I haven't experienced ANY of the things people complained about prior to the update. I love the phone a lot. Definitely go for it.

I just ordered this phone for free thanks to a promotion t-mo was running on their website. Still waiting for it to get here, but I'm very happy to hear that the update to GB is helping smooth over problems!
