I am considering leaving my Z10 to get the nexus 5. There is no real reason other than I am bored. I like to change phones every year or so, and the price seems right on this one. That being said, I still need a quality phone that does what I need.

The only android device I had before was the Samsung galaxy nexus running ICS, so I am definitely comparing to that.

1. email - my company email is hosted by gmail (google apps), so no isses there. The only issue I had with my galaxy nexus was that I couldnt turn off conversation view in my inbox. Has that changed? I hate conversation view. Also, I have a few different gmail accounts. Can I still keep my inboxes separate, or is it all one unified inbox? I prefer separate.

2. camera - galaxy nexus camera was terrible (5mp). My z10 is the minimum I would accept (8mp), and I love the camera app. Anyone have any thoughts?

3. battery - galaxy nexus (1750mAH) JUST BARELY made it through a normal day, and definitely not on a heavy usage day. My Z10 (1800mAH) lasts a day and a half at normal usage, at minimum 1 day at heavy usage. My phone is usually off the charger between 6:30am and 10:00pm. Since the nexus 5 battery is 2300 mAH, should it far outlast the galaxy nexus (i understand that the Z10 cannot be compared becuase of the OS)? I have no issue with charging my phone every night, as long as it makes it to the night.

I have considered other devices. I mainly want vanilla android, and most of those devices are too expensive as I will be purchasing out of contract. Basically, its N5 or keep what I have. Does anyone have any thoughts, either for or against, when it comes to me picking up the N5? If anyone is coming from the galaxy nexus, or BB Z10, I would really like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

Email is all software. So it will depend on the app you use.

This camera is light years better than the Galaxy nexus camera. Even normal photos will be significantly better, but Lowlight and Macro modes are a night and day difference. It is not merely MP...the actual quality was much worse. The GN had a lot of noise in it's shots which is completely absent on the Nexus 5. Compared to it's contemporaries (Droid Razr and HTC Rezound) the GN camera was sub-par.

Really the Nexus 4 was the first nexus that I would consider to have a half-decent camera. The nexus 5 is the first Nexus that I would consider to have an exceptional camera, as far as image quality. The Nexus 5's camera app is pretty bad at the moment. IMO it is intuitive and easy to use, but slow as hell compared to other Android phones.

Battery life will depend heavily on how you use it. I got over 19 hours yesterday with 20% charge remaining. the Nexus 5 is designed to use very little power for specific functions, like playing music or voice calling. The battery itself is 2300mAH.

The UI will be dramatically smoother and faster on the Nexus 5 compared to a Galaxy Nexus.
