My first generation Nexus 7 has been having issues as of late so I have decided to get a new tablet.

Verizon offers their version of the G Pad 8.3 re-certified for $180. I like the idea of the slightly larger screen and the price point is great. What do you owners think? Would you recommend it still? Its getting a little long in the tooth but its hard to find a decent 8" tablet for around $250. I would only be using it for browsing the internet and the occasional causal game. What version of Android is it currently running? I could not find the information anywhere and was wondering if its going to get Lollipop or not. Thanks in advance!

I would get it from B and H...they have new for 199.
I'll be honest: its a great tablet but I found quite a few things lacking: the display is not bright enough and it has lag in various apps where you need streaming. I'm now using an iPad mini 2...(gasp)...and love it. I returned the gpad.

I'd also hesitate about getting it from Verizon, because it'll probably be loaded with VZW bloatware.

The 16 GB Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is available reconditioned at Woot.com for $199 (+$5 shipping). We got one of these from Groupon Goods, and it's quite nice. Great screen, powerful processor. A bit too much TouchWiz for my taste, but it's easy enough to install an alternate launcher. Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" Tablet - Woot

Thanks for the info guys, I decided to grab the galaxy tab pro 8.4. Not the lowest price it's been but seems reasonable. Looks like it will do everything I need without lag, so I'm excited.
