Constantly Losing 3G Service

Hey guys, the purpose of this post isn't to complain, but rather to get answers. I am wondering why I am unable to sustain 3G coverage for more than 5 minutes after turning the phone back on...no matter where I am.

I am coming from a blackberry and always had 3G coverage in my home and around my neighborhood, so it's not like it's my location. It's definitely the phone, I'm also unable to surf the web while on 1X service, so it's also not a matter of the phone just not reporting signal strength correctly.

Also, I'm wondering if the battery life will improve after a few days of use/charges. I've only been able to keep my phone off the charger for about 4 hours before it completely dies.

Anyone have any ideas on this? It says my signal strength is -86 but it's showing 1X and web pages will not load at all. This is driving me crazy. My Storm using Opera Mini was faster at browsing the web.

Blackberry tends to get better reception for whatever reason. I think they have their own cell towers. I know that I get about 2 less bars at home than I did with my storm, but my browser speed is still decent. I just use Wifi at home because it replaces 3G and uses less battery generally if connected.

Have you turned the phone off for 30 seconds and then restart it. Also did you dial *228 and update your roaming program? Try these and see if that helps.

I have the EXACT issue with my phone. It's driving me bonkers. I'm supposed to be in a completely blanketed 3G area so I'm not sure what gives. I'm going to call customer service tonight. Plus I have that rattling ear phone issue also which I'm not happy about.

I am having similar issues. 3g seems to be going in and out. In fact when I am connect to wi-fi .. it is doing the same thing.

If I am downloading from the app store I keep getting disconnected. This holds true in multiple areas. I am also see really wonky performance in speed tests ... sharp boosts and then it bottoms out.

No problem on my Droid X but every now and then on my Droid i would get this problem..
