Constantly Losing 4G

Depends on the area I suppose. Most roads and what not around the Fairport/Perinton area have solid 4G but I have lost it and dropped to 3G on a few occasions. There are some specific roads and neighborhoods were I tend to drop to 3G, just not mine. In fact, when I go to my local Chinese restaurant I drop to 1X. lol
ok that makes me feel better

I have found that the 4G does not penetrate buildings too well, and I am regularly on 1x when in Wegmans, malls, stores, home depot, walmart, etc....

And I can prove its this phone, as my GF's TouchPro2 (my old one) is on a nice strong 3G signal when I am on 1x, and I usually end up using hers when I need to research a product or check a price, as 1x just wont cut it

The Wegmans' stores here on the East side seem to be okay, but you're definitely right that in some buildings, the 4G signal is more likely to drop to 3G. That particular restaurant is the only area where I drop to 1X, but it is still strange. Maybe that particular space is a dead zone for both 3G and LTE... I'm not sure.

Isn't 700mhz LTE supposed to penetrate buildings better because of the low frequency?

All things being equal, theoretically, yes. However, they are never equal. How much power they are transmitting is also important - varies from cell-site to cell-site. Building walls/surfaces also matter. Really a 700/800 ratio is too close to call.

After the last update my 4G at home wouldn't stay on when it was always good before. After taking the battery and sim out for a few minutes and then doing a hard reset, it seems to be holding normal for now.

I might have to give this a try

So now you have to reinstall all your free apps and redo all the app settings?
For.me that takes about 3.5 hours. I timed it the last time I did it.

Or you could use appbrain and reinstall all your apps quickly over 4G or wireless. After my reset I was a bit surprised because all I did was open the market app and all my apps started reinstalling on its own.

After having done 3-5 hard resets in the last 3 weeks, all the marketplace does is reinstall the app, it does not maintain configurations and / or settings... so be sure to factor in time to restore backups and settings... and/or reconfigure everything you run

PITA if you ask me

It is a pain. That's what makes rooting so appealing.

I have no 4G in my apartment since the update. There's a 4G tower a mile away from where I live. Big JOKE>>

Was in the Verizon store at the Greece Mall today, as my phone hung on a Marketplace install this morning... all they said was "hard reset" and "its one of your apps".

Also complained about my 4G issues, and they told me I have to wait to see what corporate saays on the ticket I opened last week...

Everyone passing the buck... as I sit here on 3G

has anyone heard of a good fix? my wife and i have identical TBs, but she doesn't have MR2 and has great 4G reception. I have MR2 and it rarely come in...frustrating!

Comfortably using my 4g in Costco right now. Maybe the signal is just not that great where you guys are....
