Hi, I just got my OP3 and transferred my contacts from my Samsung S4. However the contact Group information for each contact hasn't synced! How do I edit Contact Group info on my OP3, like setting different ringtones for different contact groups and so on?
Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Were the contacts and their group information originally saved to the S4's local Phone account only, or are they saved to your Google account? If they were only on the S4's local Phone account, that group information and custom tones might have been a function specific to Samsung. On Nexus devices (essentially "stock" Android), there is no native function for custom group ringtones, and group information is based on your Google Contacts grouping in the cloud.

Thanks for your response!
I think I'd initially saved them only to the Samsung account but now I've also synced them with my Google account and am trying to get my OP3 to sync with my Google account.

And have the contacts themselves synced successfully from your Google account, just without your prior group information?

If the stock OnePlus Contacts app doesn't have those kinds of group features, you could try 3rd party contacts apps like Contacts+. (I'm actually not sure if that app has what you're looking for--just giving you a starting point.)

That's right; the contacts themselves had synced successfully but without the group info. But it seems like that may have been due to improper syncing between my S4 and Google coz I entered the group info directly on Google Contacts and then synced my OP3 with it and now the group info also appears on my OP3.

However, like you said the stock OnePlus contacts app doesn't provide for any customisation of groups. I just checked it out and Contacts+ doesn't either 😞. I guess I'll look for other contacts apps that do that.

Thanks for your help! Appreciate it!

Anyone found a good alternative to contacts app, which uses the groups in google contacts?

I have been using the True Phone Dialer and Contacts which seems to provide a lot of good contact management tools as well as some nice options for the dialer. This one is also provides good dual sim support which is what drew me to it in the first place. It has a trial period before ads start appearing and a reasonable cost to remove aftewards.

Thanks for the recommendation
Just installing it now
