contact info not being saved

This is about the people widget. When you select a person in your contacts and the main contact info screen comes up, towards the bottom, there is an option for setting the default action for the people widget. I'm trying to select call for that option. It will save at first, but 5 minutes, the call action doesn't work.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I am not but do you happen to have your contacts syncing somewhere other than google? If you do, you might try and sync your contacts through accounts and sync right after you make the change and see if the change sticks.
