I found the thread on XDA about disabling the Bluetooth Phone Book service on the phone that is supposed to resolve contacts not being sent to a BT connected Nav system

Bluetooth problem with your car? Please read - Page 2 - xda-developers however this fix doesn't work for me since I don't have the bluetoothpbap.apk file or service running on my phone.

I have an 06 BMW with iDrive. It worked perfectly with my BB Bold.

UKB 2.1
OTB 1.6 Kernel

One of the suggestions that I've tried from another thread that worked for others was to Export/Import all of my Google contacts into the phone however that didn't work either.

I ran a logcat and found this line which looks like the only Bluetooth error that I can see in the file.

W/PackageManager( 2745): Unknown permission android.permission.ACCESS_OBEX in package com.android.bluetooth

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I just updated evo shift on sprint to gingerbread and now my contacts will not show on E60 07. Had no problem with froyo. If I learn anything I will let you know.

I had problems getting my Droid Incredible to connect to our new BMW 335is. My wife and I did BMW European Delivery and both my phone and my wife's phone, also an Incredible, connected fine while we were in Europe (Verizon CDMA phone so they weren't used to actually place calls).

I had an different issue that was related to the Verizon Global loaner phone and Backup Assistant and the bottom line is that I had to re-initialize my Droid Incredible after we returned, but that's a different story. After we took redelivery of our BMW her phone connected immediately but my phone wouldn't. I tried unpairing and re-pairing and pairing would work fine but it would never connect.

I determined that the problem was happening while trying to download the address book from the phone to the car because it would always time out while displaying "Transferring Data" on the iDrive screen. I backed up my address book using Backup Assistant and Astro File Manager and deleted all of the contacts in the phone's address book. With no address book on the phone I tried connecting to the BMW and it worked immediately and I could make calls through the car.

Using the Web interface for Verizon Backup Assistant I started moving just a few addresses from the Archive back to being active and tried connecting each time and it worked. I moved most of my contacts back to the phone and it's been working fine ever since. Apparently the problem was with bad data in my phone's address book after it got re-initialized and the address book was reloaded, and the BMW choked on it during data transfer while connecting resulting in it timing out and not being able to connect.

I worked on this issue for many hours a few months ago. No solution found. My belief is that the only contacts that can be synced have to be in the 'Not Assigned' group in contacts. Since there I do not know of a way to put contacts in that group, it was no go for me.
