Contact Message Alert

I have a few contacts set up with a different Message Alert tone, but I still only get the default alert. Different ring tones for different contacts works just fine, but not the Message Alert. Anyone else experience this?

I have the same issue on my new Galaxy S4. I was able to determine that my contacts that are based on phone numbers work fine, but those that are based on an e-mail address play the default alert regardless of the one I select on the contact.

I have the same problem with custom ringtones. They will work until my phone is reset.

I have same problem, even since I upgraded my S3 to 4.3. Even though I set alerts for specific contacts, I only get the default.

Same problem with my new October Note 3 with factory installed KitKat
