Contact Photo Tint - Is this normal?

When I assign a photo to a contact in my phone - when click save and the image I selected is in it largest form over the contact information it appears to be tinted (as if the background color that was there before the image is showing throw) when I back out into the contact list and re-enter the contact the photo is displaying it's normal colors.

Please let me know.
