Contact question/problem

I've got a slight issue with my contacts that I can't figure out. My contacts list is combining two names and I don't know how to separate them. One contact is Bobby and one contact is Robert. My contact list is combining them both under Robert. How do I get them to separate out so that Bobby has his own listing and not lumped in with Robert?

Go into gmail on a browser and make sure emails and numbers are different in the contacts bit of gmail.

I checked and they're correctly listed in gmail as two separate listings. When I go into Robert on the contacts list on my phone, it shows a Bobby and a Robert, but they're both listed under Robert. It's frustrating. In no way are the two linked in any way. Different numbers, different general information, but my phone is listing them both in the same place for some unknown reason.

Do they share any common data? Is the only similarity the name (robert / Bobby)? I have a car dealer listed as a contact (where I get my car serviced) and a guy who works there is a friend of mine. For some reason, I can not get them seperated. At one point in time I had his "work" number listed and it was the same as the dealer's main number - even after deleting my friend's work number, I could NOT un-link the 2 contacts. Frustrating. I finally had to delete BOTH completely andf then re-add them. Problem solved.

I'm wondering if you had similar contact info at one point in time. Have you tried completely deleting and re-adding each contact seperately? It's a pain to do it that way. But, it might fix your problem.

They've never shared any contact information. One is my brother and another is a coworker. I've tried deleting the contacts and re-adding them. I've added different addresses, date of births, emails, the works, and it still dumps both contacts under Robert. This is really frustrating. I wonder if it would do the same with other names, like Charles/Chuck, Richard/****, or any other names of that ilk. It's moronic if it automatically does that.

Theres an option in menu that says split contact.

Holy hell! Thank you! I was about to pull my hair out trying to figure this one out. Problem solved. :D

Heh my dad and my sisters name got combined (Christina and Christopher) and I was having this trouble until I googled it. No problem :).

It's not showing up now that I have it split, but I believe it's Contacts > long press on combined contacts > edit contact > menu button > split contacts
