Contacts and People Widget Help

A while back I deleted my "dialer data" and lost a bunch of contacts who I ported over from my Palm Pre. They were saved under "phone" contacts instead of "google" contacts, hence they weren't backed up. I since learned my lesson and backed up the contacts as google contacts.

That being said, things haven't been the same since I lost those contacts. Some of the contacts have multiple things associated to them such as home/mobile phone numbers, work/home email, twitter, FB, etc. For purposes of my question, I'll use one of my contacts as an example. Linked under his name: firs/last name (google), first/last name (FB), nickname (twitter), nickname (whatsapp), nickname (google).

How come when I try to add him to my People Widget he doesn't even come up as an option under my contacts? It seems like often, when I try to "add a contact" to either a widget, or something else, I'm missing many of my contacts for some reason. Also, he has a linked "google" contact to his name that is no longer valid, so how do I delete it?

***I have already gone in to "People" and selected "view" and checked the appropriate boxes (google, FB, etc.). If I go to "People" I see everyone I want/need to see.
