Contacts are Merging

I am syncing my contacts on S3 with Gmail accountand the S3 is merging some contacts that are similar. The number of contacts on Gmail is correct (2150) but S3 has 2141 contacts, Is there any way to determine if 2 contacts are merged on the S3. I know that if I go into each contact I can see if it is merged but with 2150 contacts I am looking for an easier way. Anyone have suggestions?
