Contacts default led color (how to change)

When i go into contacts, select a contact and scroll to bottom it shows the default notification led color. How do I change that per contact? I tap it but nothing happens.

Note: I'm not using at&t contact sync but sync contacts through google if that helps.

You have to edit the contact by hitting the little pencil icon.
