Contacts do not show up in search when making calls

For some reason, when I want to use the search function to make calls, the contact's phone number will not show up. For example, I will type "Colin" and the only thing that comes up in the search is his email address. Otherwise, I have to manually scroll through to find his phone number to make the call. Does anyone know why the search is not bringing up the phone numbers, but instead other links?

Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Open your Google Settings app, then Search & Now>Phone Search, and make sure Contacts is checked.

Thanks for the advice; however, this did not solve the issue. Contracts was already selected. Here's another example. I search for "Mom," and all that comes up is "Mom and Dad" which does not even have a number nor is it a contact (not sure how this got in here). I have to then manually find Mom's number. Thanks in advance.

Are you using the search bar within the Phone app, or the Google Search bar on the homescreen? Does it make a difference?
