I have contacts in my phonebook but when these contacts call me the phone doesn't recognise their numbers. I entered all contact numbers in my phonebook as a 7 digit number, do I have to put the area code in front all of these numbers, or is there another way for the phone to recognise the 7 digit numbers when receiving calls?

Yes, you need the area code in your phone book, because caller id simply sends the full phone number, and the phone simple does a lookup bu number in your contacts.

If you sync your phone contacts to Google you can clean that up on your computer easier than on the phone.

Thank you for the reply. I'm a bit of a newbie with the android OS, how do I sync the contacts to google and then view them on the computer?

Go to Settings / Accounts and Sync /
Make Sure The Auto Sync is set to ON at the top of that page.
Then, on that same page
Tap your google account, and make sure contacts are selected for sync, along with gmail, and virtually everything else on that list.

That's it, you're done. It will all happen magically.

When Adding a contact the phone will ask where it should store the contact. NEVER store them on the phone.
Always choose the option of storing contacts on your google account.
