Contacts linking randomly?

My contacts are randomly linking together nonsensically - the names and even area codes of numbers are all completely different, there's no rhyme or reason. I keep unlinking them and it just keeps doing it again and I have no idea what to do. My last idea is to clear data in the app options but if I do that will my backup assistant bring back my contacts or just sync the deletion?

Sorry to hear your troubles. Backup Assistant will sync the deletion(if there's no data there when it fires off the backup/sync). I'm guessing these are social media links(facebook/twitter/other) I had this same problem and doing a factory reset did help.
