Yeah, having a massive problem

So, friend inputted their number with a minor mistake, (420 instead of 720). Yet while changing it, it says and displays the correct version, until i go into messages. it still displays the 420 version.

So far i've tried:
Editing the contact
Deleting the contact and making a new one
Deleting THAT contact and just going off of messages
Deleting the message group thing
Making the message thing thru contacts
Restarting (several times)

The only thing i havent tried is making a group chat n handling it through that (dont want to annoy friends even more)
and doing a system reset

Revvl V+ 5G

Was originally saved in the google account, but even tried making the new contact just on the phone (not on sim)

I'll try that though, hopefully it works. Ty!

deleted contact, turned off sync, and restarted phone. Tried to put in the number as just a phone contact (not to gmail, or SIM) and it still goes in at the 420 version when i hit message in contacts.

The only option i can really think of is factory resetting the phone. Not that i have anything *that* important, but the amount of things i have to re-download and sign into just isnt worth it.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you also tried clearing the app cache/data from the Messages app in Settings>Apps?

THANK YOU so much

Clearing app cache itself didnt work, but clearing data did.

Just gonna double check with them and (hopefully) it actually goes through

it says the right number in the conversation settings, but we'll see. Sent a message, just awaiting a reply
