So i've been planning on rooting my thunderbolt using this method ( http://forums.androidcentral.com/thunderbolt-rooting-roms-hacks/77617-auto-root-unroot-windows-updated-5-20-w-mr1-update.html ) but it wipes all data and I was wondering if there is any way I can backup my contacts on my computer or something then move them back to my phone after it's rooted.

Why not sync them to a Gmail account??? Either that, or if you really want to do it to your PC you will need Outlook express.

Ok... I just did some testing... I opened Contacts > Menu > Export > Export to SD Card > choose what account... I'm guessing you saved yours to your phone, so choose that or where ever you saved them. Then you can connect your device to your PC, open Gmail > Open Contacts > More > Import... > select your file or files you just exported from your Contacts list that are on your SD card.

For some reason I get a "No SD card detected" error when I do that. :\ any idea why i'm getting that?

Sounds like the same thing I just suggested... and I have no idea what you've done to your SD card to not get detected.

I think its because I had my phone plugged into my laptop on disk drive mode. Because I unplugged it and tried and it worked. Thank you for your help!
