Contacts

Yeah kinda sucks. I have it that way at work and on my Blackberry. Hopefully they come out with a patch soon

If your contacts are backed up to a webmail or Outlook account you could try this:

Export to CSV
Switch the field heading names (switch "first name" with the "last name")
Import the list back into the account from which it came
Sync with your Droid

Haven't tried this with my Droid, but I've had to do this for some specific mail merge issues I was dealing with a year ago. It will depend on if your "first name" and "last name" fields are separate in the CSV. If the full name is in a single field, your only choice is to switch them on around. Good luck!

I have some Contact questions. I have the Storm 2 and I don't like it but it has no trouble handling contacts. It does not sync every field with my Outlook 2003 but, it seems to sync the most important ones along with the Notes area in contacts. I have close to 4,000 contacts, many of which have extensive notes. I believe the Droid has 256 meg of memory for programs and I seem to remember that it only has about 500 meg for storage, where I assume the Contacts go. The Storm 2 has 2 gig and the IPhone has much more than that. I also want the ability to view contacts in a specific category. The Storm does it by filtering. The Dell PDA I had allowed you to choose as many categore fields as you wanted.

What can I expect with 4,000 contacts

How long is the sync process?

How much of Outlook actually gets synced?

Can email attachments on the Droid get pulled into a laptop in the sync process. In other owrds, can you save attachedments independent of the email?

I hear battery life is a problem but it is for the Storm 2 also. So, I have 2 batteries and a plug in battery charger.
