Continuous green flashing light...

Does anyone else have issue with the continuously flashing green light at the back of the watch? It even happens when I'm not wearing my watch. My "stress" measuring is set to "manual only" and my HR measuring is set to either "Manual only" or "every 10 minutes while still". I've tried both settings and experience the same issue. The only way to make it stop is reboot the watch but then a couple of hours afterwards it starts again. When I reboot the watch I do notice the green light being on sometime when I take the watch off but as soon as I set it upside down the light goes off. It also activates again when I pick it up. It feels more like it's trying to figure out whether I'm wearing the watch or not. This green light is still, doesn't blink. That's not what I'm complaining about. The issue I'm having is a constantly flashing green light. It doesn't seem like it should be doing that and the fact that it's not doing it when I reboot the watch seems to support that thought.

I have the latest software updates and tried resetting the watch also with no luck.

Welcome to Android Central! I know that on my Fossil Carlyle and Misfit Vapor X watches (both Wear OS), the light on the back of the watch (which is used to detect heart rate as well as figure out if the watch is on a wrist) will sometimes flash if something is up against the back of the watch (like the band or the surface of a table). I've gotten into the habit of placing the watch on its side when it's not on my wrist.

Ok, I moved this to the Galaxy Watch4 forum. Probably the same general idea as my Wear OS watches, though.

I just took a manual HR reading and that stopped the blinking, for now. As a test, I went into the HR settings and set it to measure contiously and noticed that the light would blink continuously however when I set the watch face down on the table the blinking would stop and only continue when the watch was back on my arm. So even with the setting set on continuous it's technically not supposed to be blinking when you're not wearing the watch. Regardless, my setting was always either Measure Every 10min when still or "manual only". It's interesting that taking the manual reading for now has made it stop blinking.

If you set it flat on a table, how long have you waited to see if the flashing light goes off? I'm wondering if it will go off after maybe a minute or so. Maybe it needs some time to figure out that the table isn't your wrist?

It was working fine earlier but then i set it down to charge and when i picked it back up it was flashing like crazy again. I've set it on a table, gone away to do stuff around the house, came back and it's still flashing.

My AW2 flashed a green light quite frequently never thought much of it. Haven't observed if the A4 is doing the same.

I would suggest leaving it on your wrist for a bit so it can do it’s measurement. After that, so long as you don’t have some odd setting to constantly measure your HR or O2, it should stop.

I have only seen the light flash a couple of times and not for long. This watch is pretty good about knowing when it is on the wrist or not.

If you still can’t get it fixed even after a reboot, I would call support. Maybe you have a bad sensor.

There used to be a setting which would basically make the watch go in standby after it's removed from your wrist, but this was my original Galaxy Watch that I traded in. Once it was off my wrist for a minute or so the AOD would turn off and the watch wouldn't display notifications.

The green light is obviously the watch trying to read your pulse, blood oxygen and perhaps it serves to perform other functions, such as determining if you're wearing it. Sometimes the color of the surface it's setting on can confuse the watch's sensors and it will continue flashing the green light, trying to find you.

Do you have it set for continuous monitoring of blood oxygen?

GW4Classic here and when I take my watch off, I see the green flashing light, but it only does it for a few seconds and then off. I don't have continuous monitoring for stuff (every 10 mins)
