When I plug my Pixel 3XL into my car ('16 Pilot EX-L), the head unit displays an error "Unrecognized device."

When look at the notification shade of the phone, it says is USB charging only. However, when I try to change to any other setting, I get an error on the phone "Couldn't switch".

Any suggestions?

Does your car system have integrated Android Auto, and are you trying to get it to recognize your phone when you plug it into the USB port?

Can try restarting your phone, or maybe different cable?

Initially, I note the same issue when connecting to a PC.

I am trying to get AA running on my not AA-enabled HU. I have rooted the HU and purchased a dongle that is supposed to get this working, but I am running into issues.

For AA to work, you don't have to switch USB to any other mode. Looks like your HU isn't modified correctly.

I rooted my headunit and bought a dongle that lets me run AA on it. It turns out the dongle was defective, cause when I replaced it, AA runs fine (no need to switch mode).
