Are you able to do copy and paste on the incredible and does anyone have any ideas on how that would work?

If it's like the Nexus One, you can press and hold the text area and you'll see the option to 'select text' or 'select all'

This like WebOS, you can only copy and paste editable text. One workaround, which I hate using is going into the browser, logging into gmail and then copy the text I'd like to copy.

I can copy and paste non-editable text from web pages on my Droid. Just press the menu button and choose "select text", then select with your finger. To paste, long press on an editable text field and choose "paste" from the popup menu.

the one place i really want them to make it easier to C+P is in the gmail app, you can't select anything in there unless you use the aforementioned workaround.

get with it google!

True, but it can be a pain trying to position your cursor where you want it to be with your finger. Supposedly that's where The trackpad button comes in handy.

there DEFINITELY needs to be a full time copy paste ability. this kinda kills the whole point of it being a "smart phone"

There is. It's well documented around here and in the literature that comes with the phone.

you're only able to copy paste editable text and NOT emails. that also is well documented
Sorry. Your OP lacked context for me to know you were talking about C+P in all instances, not just in webpages and other text. I didn't realize that you were referring to the GMail app, specifically.

I completely agree, the C+P in BlackBerries is a HUGE deal to me. I use it constantly and the mere fact that the option is not available everywhere hopefully gets resolved. Even the iPhone can do it in most places. Why not the Android ?
