Hi. S8+ 64GB SD. Card recognized by phone, it asked to change location of new photos to SD. Tested that photos & videos are created on the card.

Now, before I inserted the card, I used the AT&T transfer app to transfer my photos and videos to the new phone so they reside on the phone. I can play those videos and see the photos. If I try to move or copy any of these photos or videos (AT&T transfer ones) to the SD, it fails. If I copy or move any of the photos taken by the S8 before the card from the phone to the card it works...

Tried also formatting the card, same thing...

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like the files on the phone are read only. How are you trying to move the files, using the onboard Files app or hooked to a PC?

Not knowing what error you're getting, I suggest hooking the phone up to a computer and seeing if you can move the files that way. You'll need drivers for the computer, you can get them from Samsung or, if using Windows, let it install them. Don't know about apples stuff.

The error just says "Copy Failed". What I ended up doing was connected the phone to my PC. First I tried to copy from the AT&T directory to the SD while connected, same fail. So I copied everything out of the ATT dir into the PC then from the PC to the SD Card and that worked. Then I removed everything from the ATT dir. Coming from Windows Phone I did not know it would be the same in Android. Would have saved me a lot of time... :) Now to do the same for my wife's and daughter's new phones...

Thanks again for your help!

You don't need drivers for Windows. You can just copy files from the phone to the computer or to other folders on the phone or the SD card.
