Hey all, hope someone can shed light on this issue.

I have a large (350Gb) folder of music on PC separated into an even larger number of subfolders.

I got a cable, I connect PC to mobile, I start copying but the process just stops by itself at some point.

I have tried going folder by folder, smaller and smaller, but it just as well stops copying.

I have noticed it sometimes goes backwards, e.g. starts with a letter Z instead of a one coming before it.

Any suggestions how to wrap up this process are welcome.

Welcome to Android Central forums. You briefly touched on what you're doing but didn't give any details how you do this. Please describe the process you use step by step. You plug in the phone, open two file explorer folders, and drag one or multiple folders to the phone destination folder and drop them, OR do you right click them, select copy, go-to the phone destination folder, right click and select paste. Tell us how you do this.

It sounds like you've maybe done some testing but based on your previous statements, you have a lot of music, but have you tried anything to see if there's a limit? For instance you have a folder with 100 songs, that doesn't transfer, you have a folder 50 songs that also doesn't transfer but this folder with 25 songs that transfers fine, OR are you telling us that at this point and transfer attempt fails, 2 songs or 200?

When it fails, what happens? It just sits there looking like it's working but really isn't doing anything, it fails with a notification, what does this notification say, exact wording please, or it just stops and when you check only some of the songs have transferred, how does it fail?

We'll be able to offer better advice with more information.

Adding on to everyone's questions and suggestions above. In the event it may help, suggest checking your S23's available free storage space. Settings/Device Care has a Storage section that shows how much free storage space is available.

Any suggestions how to wrap up this process are welcome.

I have run into this a couple of times over the years while copying a large amount of data. I am not entirely sure why myself but I do have some theories.

On some occasions I thought maybe my cable connection wasn't perfect. On others I found some files I was trying to copy needed to be renamed and didn't work well on a tablet or card due to long file names. That might be relevant to you if you have lots of subfolders, which creates a tree that can get pretty long.

As a result of long file names, I could not get a handful of things to copy to the card on my 7+ tablet. After renaming certain long file names, I was able to copy everything to my s23 hard drive. Those files that did not copy to my 7+ have now copied just fine--again, now renamed--to my new tab S11's card
