Corporate Email - Read messages are black/dim, difficult to read

After reading a message in my Corporate Email, it changes from bright lettering to a dark lettering that blends in with the black background. Is there any way to change the background to be a different color or some way to change settings so that the read messages appear more clearly/brightly? Thanks.
