Corrosion on the Moto 360?

I went to put on my Moto 360, and the top part of the watch has developed pretty serious corrosion (I'll try to upload a photo to this thread in a bit). Has anyone else seen this?

I've not seen this. May not be corrosion. Could just be some residue.

Yeah, I'd definitely get a warranty replacement on that. It looks like the battery overheated. Could be dangerous.

Yes, it does seem/look battery related. Does the unit still operate?

It's weird how it looks like cake jammed in between the band and watch. I think we were all expecting to see small orange spots (rust/corrosion) though this looks like it came from under the watch.

The unit operates just fine (although I'm a bit reticent to wear it, given that something seems to be wrong and I rather like my wrist the way it is). Thanks for the remote diagnosis; I'll file for a replacement today.

Dafuk is that??!! Sorry, I was shocked. Yeah, get it replaced, don't chance it. If this is coming from inside the watch, I'd say it's the battery or some big-arse capacitor, but that's still a lot of material.

What the... I was expecting a small anomaly. That just sucks!

This is the reason why I never leave my electronics plugged in beyond the estimated time to full charge. I plug in a timer socket set for two to three hours maximum.

Definitely looks like a leaking battery, I would store it on something heat resistant until you get it replaced, lithium batteries are capable of producing a lot of heat when things go wrong.

An update. After extensive back and forth with Motorola, the watch was replaced under warranty.

As far as why I took the photo on my wrist, that would be because I did not notice the issue until I had already put the watch on for the morning.

Some more details (so those can benefit from my experience). It was not charged on the stock charger, but rather a separate Qi charger I had in my travel bag (DigiYes USB POWERQI, specifically). Charger was connected to a laptop rather than a wall wart. No idea if any of that would make a difference, but putting it out there for future edification.
