Corrupt software?

ok, just got my x yesterday, gmail was not working well at all! for some reason, the phone never notifies me that i have email, and the only reason i know is because of the notification number using launcher pro. when i open the gmail app, i see the number of emails next to the inbox, but the emails dont show up in the list. even after a refresh still no luck. i have to wait sometimes over an hour for the email to show up. all the data is set to sync properly. i called verizon and did a factory reset last night. no dice same problem. called motorola as i was instructed by verizon. they couldnt help either and said that my gmail software may be corrupt. ever hear of that? i asked if i could just delete the app and reinstall, they said no as its built into the software. they are sending me a new phone that should be here monday or tuesday. funny thing though, if i use the email app that is on the phone, and not the gmail app, gmail works fine! pushes thru, get notifications and all. heck, the normal gmail app has even started to kinda work now. i'm getting notifications on the stock gmail app now (sometimes) and the email shows up!(sometimes) i hope the new phone fixes this issue, although i must say that the stock email app on the x is not that bad at all! i had to switch twitter clients too just now as tweetcaster would not refresh anymore and once signed out wouldnt let me sign back in. tweetdeck is working fine though.

all that to ask again, can the software be corrupt even after a factory reset?

Go into email settings and make sure you have "push" checked and an automatic fetch at 15 minutes if push isn't available. Push means email sent to you as it arrives.

Also check your pc Gmail settings for how often it checks your email, particularly for pop 3 servers that Gmail accesses for you.
