Corrupted/Damaged photos on SD card.

Recently I've noticed that some of my photos on my SD card have been corrupted (3 photos to be exact), but when I say corrupted I don't mean that they couldn't be opened and viewed. I mean by this: https://ibb.co/fVNwK7

I've changed my phone in February 2018, bought a new one, and since this is the SD card from my old phone ,that I put in to my new phone, the photo I linked is from the old phone. When I first got the phone and when i set it all up, the photos weren't immediately damaged. Just noticed this Wednesday that I got two damaged photos. One is the I linked, the second one that is from the new phone that is located in the SD card (the first one was also damaged like a month ago but i ignored the problem, and it is from the new phone as well).

A side note, just two weeks ago my phone got an error that the SD card was damaged and that i needed to format it. I took the SD card out of the phone ant connected it to an external SD card reader to my PC and transferred everything to the PC. But I couldn't transfer everything at once like I always did. If I selected multiple files or certain files and tried to transfer them, the reader would disconnect from the PC. When I finished transferring the files, I formated the SD card on the PC and put every file back in and put the SD back in to the phone and everything worked fine.

Is there any way to recover these photos? The second one is especially important to me. What could've caused this? Did I pickup a virus or something? I don't know. Maybe my SD card is damaged but I was just wondering is there was a fix to this.

I'm very sorry if I added a lot of information. I just wanted to explain in detail what I noticed and what happened.

Welcome to Android Central! File corruption is relatively common on SD cards. SD cards are inherently less reliable that onboard storage memory, so unfortunately, this is one of the risks of using them.

Are you saying you were able to copy the corrupted photo files to the computer? If so, does it still look like that when you view them on the computer?

You could try using chkdsk to fix damaged sectors, but this might also make that corrupted photo completely inaccessible: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html

There weren't any problems transferring the damaged photos to the PC. The damaged photos are viewed the same way on the phone and on PC. But the funny and interesting thing is that the thumbnail of the photo on PC is displayed normally. Hmm, interesting. I know that Android creates a separate thumbnail image to display, but I'm not sure if Windows does that as well.

It looks as if the Thumbs.db file holds all of them for that directory. Add a picture and its size changes.

Sorry If i haven't posted in a while. I was busy with school. Anyway, here is a little update. This weekend another photo got destroyed completely. It cant be viewed at all or even opened. And the folder with my photos from the old phone is just non existent. Good thing I had them backed up. By the time I'm writing this, I connected my phone to the PC again, and the DCIM folder and a few more say that it isn't a folder anymore. It says it is a file https://ibb.co/nr6e9H . I'll try the chkdsk command in cmd later tonight and post if I achieved something.

A few more things, this probably isn't a SD card problem or maybe it is. I went in to the storage settings to clear the cached data. Usually it is around 200MB, but this time it was 8GB. What?! This is probably some bug because I always have around 6-7GB free https://ibb.co/i7Qswx https://ibb.co/chgMpH . The phone came with 11GB free because of the system.

One more thing, is SanDisk better then Kingston? I dont' know, I never had a problem with Kingston SDs. If this is a problem with the SD card, and if I don't manage to fix this, should I buy a SanDisk SD?

UPDATE: Just finished the chkdsk command in cmd it says that it doesn't have any errors: https://ibb.co/kpypbx . But unfortunately the photos are still damaged. I hope it won't corrupt the photos any more.
